One hell of a year!

A year ago I rang in 2010 on the opposite side of the world and set out to accomplish as much as I could in the time I had in Singapore. I thought I was working hard on my music career before, but in reality I hadn’t even begun to reach my potential. My drive and focus was higher than ever and here is what I accomplished in 2010. It all started with naming my band DELUCO, then getting a logo designed for that band name that would become my brand. I decided to collaborate with another musician and record my first EP. After a song writing session in Indonesia, we bega_n recording. Once recording was finished it was time to get the tracks mixed and mastered, so I sent everything to Los Angeles. After several phone calls back and forth about the tweaking of the music, I had my songs sounding the best quality I could get. Now what? Well, after lots of research and listening to pod casts, and reading blogs and articles on the music industry today, I knew what had to be done. Album artwork designed, photo shoot, website(

stevedeluco.com), done. I had all the recording sessions filmed for documentary purposes and a low budget music video for “Ninety Nine Roses”. Put a band together and booked an album launch party at a kick ass rock club in Singapore, which was also filmed with two cameras. Released the album world wide on iTunes, amazon, and CDBaby myself. CD duplication back in L.A was difficult after the shipment got held up in customs leaving me with nothing to sell at the release party. Live and learn. After a successful turnout at the launch, I was asked back to do another show. Put another band together and rocked it again, two days before flying back home the States. This show was even better! More people showed up and it was a tight show. I now have live video of my performances, great live photos, and the start of my fan base. With all the elements in my digital press kit, on my website and social networking sites, I can now being taken serious and professional. All long way from just having demos on a myspace page.
Balancing my job that gave me the time and money to work on music, which is another full time job, was possible because I can really say I gave it my all. Just when you think you are trying your best, you probably are not. Go one step further, or the philosophy of goin to 11 which I love. I took control of my career for the first time, instead of waiting around to be “discovered” by somebody. I discovered myself and put myself out there. Ask yourself this question, “what have I done today to further my career?”. If nothing comes to mind, then you’re not working hard enough.
I accomplished a great deal in one year. If I continue on this path, imagine where I’ll be in 5 years.

Rock on!
